Our Team

Ekaterini Beyina

Ekaterini is a graduate of the 2nd General Unified Lyceum of Pylea (Thessaloniki). Today, she is an undergraduate student in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia, majoring in Political Studies and Diplomacy. She has voluntarily worked as the Head of the Student Exchange Program of the International Student Organization AIESEC for the University of Macedonia (2008-2009), as well as as the coordinator of the Program at national level (2009-2010). She has also volunteered as a representative in Greece of the social enterprise Global Campus (London), a global online platform for connecting students with academic institutions (2010). As part of her volunteer experience, she has participated in numerous student conferences in Greece and abroad (Malaysia, Egypt, UK, Italy, Malta, Sweden, Romania), either as a delegate or as a member of the organizing committee. Today, she is a trainee at the Jean Monnet Chair of the University of Macedonia.

 George Glouftsios

George Gluftsios is a graduate student at the Department of International and European Studies, University of Macedonia. His dissertation was entitled “The Post-Bipolar International System: The Rise and Fall of American Hegemony.” He is a recipient of the Erasmus Scholarship: Faculté de Droit et Science Politique- University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (2010).

Chrysothea Basia

 Basia Chrysothea is a graduate student in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia and was a Fellow of the Erasmus Program from February to June 2011 at the Catholic University of Portugal, Department of Political Studies, in Lisbon. She completed her internship at the UNESCO Chair of the University of Macedonia during the academic year 2011-2012, while being a trainee at the Jean Monnet Chair for the current academic year. She participated in numerous Conferences and Models of the United Nations, both in Greece and abroad, she is a member of research teams, and a member of the Organizing Committee of the International Model of Regional Cooperation in Rhodes, RhodesMRC 2013. She speaks English, German, Italian, and French, and has been distinguished with honorable mention in the Pan-European Competition of Ancient Greek Language and Literacy, in 2006, when she was a student of the 2nd Lyceum.

Isidoros Dafnis

Isidoros Dafnis is a graduate student in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Macedonia. He has worked in the Public Relations department of the tourism company Grecotel and has done an internship at the UNESCO Chair of the University of Macedonia, and at the US Consulate General in Thessaloniki, in the Department of Public Relations and Communication Diplomacy. He has participated in several simulation Models of the United Nations and for the current year he will serve as the President of the Youth Association for the International Student Simulation Conference of the United Nations Organization of Thessaloniki (ThessISMUN) and as Secretary General of the same conference. He is a member of the Organizing Committee of the International Student Simulation Conference of the United Nations Organization of Bucharest (BISMUN). He speaks English, French, German, and Italian. He has excellent piano knowledge and a degree in composition. His involvement with the activities of the Jean Monnet Chair lasted for two months.

Sofia Karagianni

Sofia Karagianni is a fourth-year law student at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She has worked as a public relations manager at AIESEC Thessaloniki (2012-2013), as a treasurer at ELSA Thessaloniki (2013-2014), and her service in non-governmental organizations will conclude with the position of the treasurer at the national association of ELSA Greece (2014-2015). Her great love is human rights in the field of which she has worked at “Lawyers Without Borders” and has attended as a delegate the 58th session of the Committee on Women’s Rights in Geneva (CEDAW 58th session, 7-11/7/2014) . She has participated in United Nations simulations abroad (Bonn, Istanbul) and speaks English, French, Spanish, and German.

Maria Kleftodimou

Maria Kleftodimou Smith is a student at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, New York. She is currently in her final year of school and applying to college. She is interested in European, Hellenic and classical studies, communication, and business. Maria has a dual nationality—American and Greek— and spends her summers in Greece. She is bilingual and has studied Greek with a professor from the Aristotle University. She also speaks fluent French and has begun to learn Spanish. Maria is an intern at the Jean Monnet Chair for the summer of 2014, assisting with our English web page and social media. She translated website postings from Greek to English and created website content. She also helped with English press releases, social media content, and edited recordings of conferences and seminars we organized.
